All About Therapy Intensives
Benefits of therapy intensives:

-
Deep Dive: A Therapy Intensive allows you to process trauma, improve your relationship with yourself or your partner, and is free from the limitations of weekly sessions. It is unhurried, focused, committed time.

-
Flexibility: Balancing work and life is tough; frequent therapy sessions don't always fit. An intensive offers you the freedom to pursue healing on your terms. In this way you can skip the waitlists and difficulties with scheduling weekly or biweekly therapy.

-
Accelerated Growth: Through an intensive therapy session, you can fast-track your progress, achieving breakthroughs in less time while still managing daily responsibilities effectively.
Who Therapy Intensives are for:

-
Intensives are great for busy and motivated people who may not have time for weekly or bi-weekly therapy, but want to see progress sooner rather than later.

-
True to Off the Beaten Path's roots, this style of therapy is for those who are ready for a change of approach; something different than the traditional model of therapy.

-
Intensive sessions appeal to individuals seeking efficiency in their lives; those who demonstrate conscientiousness in their readiness for change.
Therapy Intensives are not:

-
A Quick Fix: While intensives are often great for seeing benefits sooner than weekly or biweekly appointments allow, they are not designed to clear all past pains or traumas.

-
For those in crisis: Intensives require prolonged and concentrated emotional engagement, which can overwhelm individuals already in crisis, potentially exacerbating their distress rather than providing immediate relief.
In a typical weekly therapy session, the structure often involves approximately:

-
10-15 minutes update
-
20-30 minutes for therapeutic work
-
10-15 minutes to wrap up the session

This routine might go on for about a month, costing roughly $880 for four weekly sessions. But, things in life often pop up between sessions, changing what we talk about and how we do therapy.
So, weekly therapy could end up taking a few months ($880 * multiple months) costing more as we go along, without necessarily fixing the problems bothering you right away.
With a Therapy Intensive,
the structure often involves approximately:

-
10-15 minute chat to catch up and figure out what we're focusing on
-
Dive into 2hr 40min to 3hr 30min of deep therapeutic work
-
Followed by another 10-15 minutes to wrap things up

With this intensive approach, you could tackle one or multiple stressors in just half a day, costing between $1,452-$1859. Plus, since deep therapeutic processing is so effective, you're often getting more benefit than you'd get from traditional therapy sessions.

That means you're doing more work in less time, needing fewer therapy sessions overall. You'll start feeling better sooner, and you won't have to keep taking time off work or paying for childcare to make it to your sessions.
How to Prepare for a Therapy Intensive
2
Book the sessions and complete your paperwork.
Once your sessions are booked, you will receive calendar bookings along with invitations to complete questionnaires and paperwork that ensures that we can get right to it. You will be required to save your credit card on Jane and Square, and pay a 50% deposit in order to hold your booking.
3
Prepare for your intensive sessions.
Gather and bring any necessary items such as journals, medication, and comfortable clothing or comfort items. Set aside the time: We recommend taking the full day off of work, and perhaps the following day. It is helpful to tell the important people in your life that you may be like a fragile parcel when you arrive home and you will need a handle-with-care approach.

Similarly, Shapiro and Laliotis (2017) discussed the adaptive information processing model, which underpins EMDR therapy, emphasizing its integrative treatment approach. Additionally, Schubert and Lee (2017) explored the correlation between adult attachment and response to EMDR treatment for PTSD in individuals exposed to childhood trauma. Valiente-Gómez et al.
